Chaplaincy Plus Annual Celebration

The 2022 Chaplaincy Plus Annual Celebration will take place on Wednesday, 19 October, at the office of Mills & Reeve, 78 – 84 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 2AB. Attendees are invited to gather from 5.30pm for light refreshments. The event will run from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. The programme will include highlights from the last year and a survey of what is on the horizon in 2023.

The theme for the 2022 Celebration is ‘Increasing Diversity in the Workplace.’ Diversity is a hot topic at the moment, especially in multi-cultural Birmingham. Quite rightly, there’s a call for greater diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Sadly, this is still not put into practice in every place of work in the city, despite the many reports and recommendations promoting greater diversity and inclusion. It is in the work environment that decisions affecting people of all ethnicities, religions, abilities and sexualities are made. For Christians, a spiritual and moral imperative undergirds their approach to this issue-of-the-moment. The New Testament speaks of the importance of unity in diversity and the gift of love. How should this look in our places of work? And what about the business imperative… Is it one or the other?

The conversation will be led by guest speaker Dawn Brathwaite from Mills & Reeve. Dawn is the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Lead, as well as co-chair of their Reach network, covering race, ethnicity and cultural heritage. She is a lawyer, who was previously a healthcare partner at Mills & Reeve. Dawn is a member of the General Synod of the Church of England and the recipient of Birmingham Black Lawyer’s Diversity Champion Award 2019.

Those who are unable to attend the Celebration event in person will be able to join via Zoom. Information and registration via THIS LINK. Read more about the work of Chaplaincy Plus HERE.
