‘Windrush Week’ – Events in Birmingham 16th-24th June

Windrush Week aims to celebrate the contributions of the ‘Windrush Generation’ to British society over the last 70 years.  See below for a host of events including films, tea parties, concerts and services from 16th to 24th June.

Saturday 16th June 2018

  • Pastors Breakfast at Laurel Road hosted by Kingsway Project & HDCO, 9am
  • Nurses Tea Party at Birmingham University Selly Oak Campus in the afternoon, 2pm

Sunday 17th June

  • Windrush Services (All Churches) including opening at Holy Trinity, Trinity Road Aston Birmingham, 11am
  • Parade Service at Calvary Church of God in Christ 1 Burlington Street Aston Birmingham, 11am

Monday 18th June

  • Public Services Day (Ambulance Service, Police. Fire, Ambulance, NHS, RAF, Royal Navy, British Army, Local & National Gov’t) at Tally-Ho Birmingham, 10am-4pm, Opening Ceremony 12 noon

Tuesday 19th June

  • Elders Day, Laurel Road Handworth Elders Luncheon Club, 11am–3pm
  • Pannel Croft Village Newtown Birmingham Elders Entertainment evening, 6pm–11pm

Wednesday 20th June

  • Birmingham University Windrush Lecture @ Birmingham University Barber Institute, 2-4pm

  • Childrens Concert & Civic Reception
  • Birmingham Town Hall Schools Choir Event (Invitation Only 12.45–2.15pm)
