Notice from Churches and Industry Group Birmingham and Solihull (CIGB):
CIGB Workplace Chaplaincy’s Voluntary Chaplains support adults in workplaces and communities across Birmingham and Solihull. Workplace Chaplaincy is a clear sign that God is engaged in our lives 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Chaplaincy is a key strand in the Church of England’s inspiration to encourage active ministry in all areas of daily life. You can read some stories from our Chaplaincies on Facebook @CIGB1.
Workplace Chaplains proactively encounter people in workplaces to offer listening and support; and to grow opportunities to help people see that God is in our daily work. Voluntary chaplains typically give about half a day a week to this ministry. Our chaplains find the experience uplifting. They report that is has also helped them to grow their faith.
CIGB, a local Christian charity, has been providing ecumenical Workplace Chaplaincy for over 40 years and has an existing team of 60 part-time chaplains from a rich variety of churches. Training is over 7 Monday evenings from 11 Feb and teaches some of the core skills and strategies for Workplace Chaplaincy.
Attending the course is not a commitment to start chaplaincy; nor does it guarantee a chaplaincy role at the end: a discernment conversation takes place towards the end of the course. Our chaplaincies are in places like shops, offices, fire service, transport and construction sites.
