Mentor a Young Refugee

December 10th, 2018

Refugee Support Network (RSN) is a charity with a Christian Ethos.  They recruit, train and support volunteers from the community to come alongside young refugees struggling with their studies in order to help them progress with their education, and thereby keep hoping in a good future.

RSN are looking to recruit a new cohort of volunteers from December and would be delighted to receive your application.  The commitment is to help one young person for an hour a week, term time only, for 6 months.  They are especially keen to recruit volunteers who are comfortable supporting young people with maths as that is a current need of many of their students, several of whom are doing GCSE’s.

The process to apply involves an application, interview, completion of a CRB and provision of two references.  RSN will provide training and support all the way through.

Lydia Mitton, Mentoring Coordinator, says:

“I’m probably biased in saying this, but the programme is excellent!  The young people are wonderful – so are our volunteers – and whilst being hard work it is SO rewarding!”

To find out more, email Lydia at [email protected] or see the RSN website.
