New Community Prayer Space in Handsworth

August 14th, 2018

The team at The Crown Church are launching a Community Prayer Space in Handsworth would love you and your church to be involved, starting with a 24 hour prayer adventure at the end of this month.

“We want to offer creative ways to pray and be prayed for, to bring the needs of our community to God and to unite with other Christians to pray for God’s kingdom to come in Handsworth and beyond.”

They have been inspired by some of the methods from 24-7 Prayer and Thy Kingdom Come, but want to offer a space where anyone feels welcome to share needs, explore prayer and be encouraged.  The starting core group is from The Crown Church but they are keen to unite with others who want to seek God’s blessing on our community.

The first Community Prayer Space will be in the small meeting room at St Andrew’s Sports and Community Centre (on the corner of Church Lane and College Road) on Friday 31st August and Saturday 1st September, from 8am-8pm both days.  There will be creative ‘prayer stations’ around the room such as a prayer tree with prayers for healing, and thanksgiving bunting.  Visitors can feel free to use these or pray in different ways as they choose.  They ask that anyone praying is prepared to welcome passers-by who drop in to help them explore prayer as well.

Find out more on their Facebook page and sign up for a prayer slot here. The team hope this will lead on to more initiatives to pray together in our community and plan to keep using the Facebook page to offer space to pray and to advertise other events and resources to encourage prayer.  Please encourage any local Facebook users to like and share the page and be part of the movement of prayer, and to share prayer requests, or email [email protected].
