Ukrainian Refugee Support Coordinator
UKRANIAN REFUGEES SUPPORT CO-ORDINATOR
FHC offices in Coleshill, Birmingham and Home based SCP 22 – 27 (£22,539 – £26,333) pro rata depending on hours
Fixed term – 6mths (possible extension), 25 – 37 hrs per week
Do you want to use your skills and experience to support individuals and families seeking refuge from the war in Ukraine, who are being offered accommodation by families and individuals in this part of England.
If so, we would love you to apply for this new post to build on this solid foundation that we have created in response to the many offers of accommodation that we have received. Since March we have built an effective response to the many offers we have received, and made good progress with matching hosts and Ukrainian refugees.
You would build on this work supporting, with the existing team, hosts through the whole process of matching and welcoming and then supporting both the host and the refugee individual or family during the critical early stages of their settling in, short-term or longer
term in this country.
Your key strength will be your interpersonal communication skills. You will need to be fluent in spoken and written English and Ukrainian and confident to act as an interpreter in small meetings between the hosts, the Ukrainian individuals or families and a
representative of a third party – for example one of our partners, a school or local Council staff. If you are able to speak Russian that could be a benefit but is not essential.
Use of phone, Zoom, WhatsApp is a vital and primary part of this work since the families who are offering accommodation are geographically dispersed around the area that Father Hudson’s works in. On occasion you would need to travel to meet the hosts and the refugee Ukrainian individuals or families, but this would not be on a regular basis.
We are looking for someone who is able to support others in an enabling way, liaise with a range of agencies, and work with volunteers and in a team. Use of Outlook, Word and basic Excel is also essential.
Father Hudson’s Care is a committed employer that proactively pursues its ambitions for equality, diversity and inclusion in all that it does, building on its core values.
