Fit for the Future: Communities Briefs and Bids

9.30am-3.30pm, Tuesday 2nd October 2018

Leominster Priory Church, Church Street, Leominster, HR6 8DA

Following the success of last year’s Fit for Function, Fit for the Future, on the 2nd of October 2018 we will be holding our next conference Fit for Function 2: Communities, Briefs and Bids.

This ecumenical event will be held at Leominster Priory in Herefordshire, open to anyone who works, supports or volunteers at a place of worship.

The day will be full of useful presentations, networking opportunities and breakout sessions; offering a range of perspectives on engaging with the wider community, working with different professionals and accessing funding.

We are delighted that Bishop John Inge, Bishop of Worcester and lead Bishop for Cathedrals and Churches will be our keynote speaker.

Breakout sessions will be led by a number of experts, including:

  • Naomi Fisher from Apec Architects, who will talk through the best ways to work with professionals, in order to save you time and money;
  • Community Consultation expert Keely Tattersfield, who will explain where to start with local engagement, including how to get people involved in your project and collect data to evidence ‘need’; and
  • Kevin Thomas from Ecclesiastical Insurance, will give practical advice on health and safety.
  • National Churches Trust will be talking about their new grant programmes and how to apply

There will also be sessions focused on funding opportunities, ‘dos and don’ts’ and practical ways to engage people when delivering a capital project. A parish group will also share how they successfully used community consultation to access funding and increase capacity within their parish. This event is being delivered in partnership between the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham and the Anglican Dioceses’ of Hereford, Lichfield and Worcester.

Bookings can be made via Eventbrite.
