Gospel arts productions (Youth Theatre) presents … A phenomenal modernised musical theatre adaption based on John Bunyan’s immortal classic novel ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ merged with an urban twist of The Children of Israel’s Journey in Exodus on their way to the Promised Land. This play tackles the bondage of mental slavery affecting the youth in the 21st century.
The plot takes place in 21st Century Exodus in a world where a whole generation has turned into mental slaves. The story centres on the children of the next generations from their hometown, the “City of Destruction” (“this world”), to the “Celestial City” (“that which is to come”: Heaven) in New Jerusalem. The Children of God are weighed down by a great burden—the knowledge of sin—which came from reading (the Bible). This burden is so unbearable that they must seek deliverance. Along the journey they meet some sinister characters who try to destroy their faith.
