Revisiting Genesis: New Angles on Old Stories

Between 17 September and 18 November, Dr Ann Conway-Jones will lead a course entitled ‘Revisiting Genesis: New Angles on Old Stories.’ The course comprises live discussion sessions, written and visual material, a private discussion forum and individual reflection. The five live sessions will take place via Zoom fortnightly between 6.00pm and 7.00pm, beginning on Tuesday 22 September. Course participants will be asked to read several biblical chapters, along with an accessible article provided, before each of the live sessions.

Genesis contains some of the best-known stories in the Bible: Adam and Eve; Noah’s Flood; the near sacrifice of Isaac… Despite their familiarity, these are complex narratives, which can be read on different levels. They challenge us to engage with the difficult issues they raise, from problematic family relationships to traumatic devastation and the nature of God. In this course, we will draw on recent scholarship to explore their contemporary resonances.

The course is being offered by the Woodbrooke Quaker Studies Centre and costs £72. For information about support regarding the fees, follow THIS LINK. For more information about the course, and to sign up, click HERE.
