Bethel Health and Healing Network

Congratulations to the Bethel Health and Healing Network, which has been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest form of recognition for volunteer groups in the UK. Bethel Health and Healing Network is a registered charity limited by guarantee, established upon Christian faith and principles. It aims to offer a range of services that will promote the health and well-being of Birmingham’s disadvantaged people and its environs by enabling them to maximise their physical, psychological and spiritual potential through achieving balance and wholeness within themselves, their relationships and their community.

Bethel Health and Healing Network operates a Doula Service, which works closely with the NHS, statutory agencies and partners, to tackle high infant mortality rates that exist in Birmingham and Sandwell because of poverty and social deprivation. Bethel supports at-risk pregnant women and new mothers by providing emotional, practical and expert support.

Bethel Health and Healing Network also provides the non-judgmental ‘Rapha Listening Service’ for adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, isolation and depression, often caused by wider health determinants such as socio-economic conditions, difficult family and personal relationships, racism, sexism and/or other forms of discrimination. In addition to telephone support, Bethel works in partnership with statutory and community organisations to deliver the service in community settings across Birmingham and Solihull. People accessing the Rapha Listening Service receive up to nine listening sessions and signposting to additional mental health and wellbeing services.
