Cancer survivor to do 8-mile sponsored Walk of Blessing to celebrate 80th birthday

Cancer survivor Ian Cole, the founder of the World Prayer Centre along with family and friends, will be walking an 8-mile sponsored ‘Walk of Blessing’ across parts of South Birmingham, praying blessing on every church and school they pass to celebrate his 80th birthday.

Ian has recently been given the ‘all clear’ after being diagnosed with prostate and bladder cancer in 2020.  We thank God for his healing and pray for continued health and endurance as he takes on the 8@80 challenge – walking 8 miles at 80 years old!  The walk of blessing will take place on Saturday 30th September 2023, beginning and ending at Gas Street St Luke’s church, Great Colmore Street and then following an eight-mile route around south Birmingham.

The World Prayer Centre team have said, “We would be thrilled if you can sponsor Ian at this unique time in his life and his service for God and the body of Christ in this nation and in many parts of the world.

Ian has set himself a target of raising £1000 for every year of his life and is asking for sponsorship based on the number 8. £8, £18, £80, £800, £8,000. The walk will benefit three charities – the World Prayer Centre, Love Your Neighbour based in inner city Birmingham and Advantage Africa working amongst the poorest in Kenya and Uganda.

World Prayer Centre is also encouraging people to join on the walk of blessing in Birmingham and get sponsorship for our challenge, or you can walk an 8-mile route where you live and download the sponsorship form to get sponsorship from your friends and family.
