Landmark June gatherings

A number of landmark Christian events will take place in the Midlands during the month of June. They include (in date order):

The national CHURCH OF SANCTUARY conference, which will be held at the Carrs Lane Church Centre, Birmingham B4 7SX, from 10.00am to 4.30pm on Saturday 8 June. This free conference and networking event, organised by the Church of Sanctuary, Churches’ Refugee Network and City of Sanctuary, will explore how churches are responding to the call to offer sanctuary to those fleeing persecution and seeking asylum. Join the various workshops on the day to delve deeper into key issues and explore how you, your church or faith organisation, can take action in becoming more welcoming to those in need. The GOD LOVES YOU TOUR event at the Resorts World Arena, Birmingham B40 1NT, at 6.00pm on Saturday 15 June. The evangelistic event, supported by a large number of local churches in the Midlands, will be addressed by Franklin Graham. Based on the Biblical text found in John 3:16, Graham is in the process of proclaiming the love of God for all at his large outreach meetings in 2024 in Glasgow (Scotland), Krakow (Poland), Mexico City (Mexico), Naples (Italy) Can Tho (Vietnam) and ten cities in the USA, as well as in Solihull. The 2024 GATHER MOVEMENT SUMMIT will convene at Pride Park, Derby DE24 8HY, on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 June. Speakers at ‘I see a new city‘ include Bible Society CEO Professor Paul Williams, ‘Home for Good’ CEO Tania Bright and CAP Chief Mission Officer Lyn Weston. In addition to the speakers, the summit will include ten seminar options and conversations in four tracks. Gather is movement of over 8,000 churches and charities, based in more than 150 towns and cities, who are working together on the ground to see their communities transformed. The JESUS CULTURE UK Pastors’ Conference at Gas Street Church, Birmingham B1 2JT, on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 June. Jesus Culture is a community of worship leaders and musicians whose heart is to see a generation impacted by encounters with the presence of God. From their local church base in Sacramento, California, Jesus Culture regularly hosts events around the world. Speakers at the conference at Gas Street Church will include Banning Liebscher, Alex Seeley and Pete Hughes. Worship will be led by Kristene DiMarco, Bryan and Katie Torwalt and Gas Street Music. A FULFIL interdenominational youth event for 11s-18s will take place at Mount Zion Community Church, Aston B6 4TN, at 7.30pm on Friday 28 June. Organised by Birmingham City Mission, Fulfil provides an ideal opportunity for young people from different groups and backgrounds to come together to enjoy a fun night out, a chance to see the wider Birmingham Kingdom picture and to be encouraged in faith as young people worship Jesus together and hear and apply the gospel message – which is shared at every event – to their lives. United Christian Broadcasters will celebrate 30 years of its popular ‘Word for Today’ daily Bible notes with a GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS gathering at the Bethel Convention Centre, West Bromwich B70 7JW at 6.30pm on Saturday 29 June. Hosted by UCB’s CEO David L’Herroux, worship will be led by Mark Oakes and Helen Yousaf. The guest speaker will be Debby Gass.
