Online ‘Justice and Peace’ Assembly

The Birmingham Archdiocesen Justice & Peace Assembly 2020 will take place online, consisting of three one-hour evening sessions, plus Evening Prayer to conclude the virtual gathering. The 7.30pm weekday evening sessions will take place on Monday 28 September, Wednesday 30 September and Friday 2 October. Evening Prayer will be led by Archbishop Bernard Longley at 7.00pm on Sunday 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi.

The title of the Assembly is ‘The Climate Emergency: Listening to the ‘Cry of the Earth and the Cry of the Poor.’ The focus of the evening sessions will be ‘Ecological Conversion’ (an ‘examination of conscience’ on our care for our common home); ‘Prepare the Future’ (building back better to address the climate emergency); and ‘Local Government Responsibilities’ (planning for the West Midlands). The speakers will be John Paul de Quay, Neil Thorns and Dr Jacqueline Homan.
