Sports charity expands into the midlands

KICK, is a Christian based charity seeking to transform lives with God’s love through sport and support, is expanding into the midlands. Due to the success of its work in the London area, KICK is extending the sphere of its work and is looking to increase its capacity to meet the clear demand from schools in the region. KICK is committed to bringing transformational change to young people in both East and West Midlands.

KICK currently works with over 17,000 young people every week through its schools and church-based Academy work. Labelled the ‘unchurched generation,’ young people are growing up in a challenging time. According to the MFHA, one in three 15-year-olds have a mental health problem and two million children will grow up in a single parent household.  Three in every five 16 – 24-year-olds feel disillusioned with life. KICK’s response to this is to provide schools with unique, values driven coaching through Sports Coaching, Mentoring, Street Dance and Chaplaincy.

Matt Wood of KICK’s regional team says, ‘The door has opened for KICK to partner with schools across the Midlands and, as a result, a growing team of coaches and mentors has been established and envisioned. They are already blessing schools and their pupils in the region. Coaches have become an integrated part of their school and are investing in the lives of young people.  Some are sharing their testimony, others are bringing a message of God’s love in assemblies, while others bring a God-flavour to the way they coach. All are building relationships and reflecting Jesus’ care in the way they are supporting pupils who need a role model.’
