A Windrush Interfaith Conference will take place from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Friday 28 March at The Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, 53 Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham B15 2RS. The purpose of this conference, which is being organised by the Windrush National Organisation, is to update the houses of faith on the Windrush Scheme being offered by the Home Office in relation to Immigration Status and Compensation for those who have been impacted by ‘the Windrush Scandal.’
Bishop Dr Desmond Jaddoo MBE (pictured above), Chair and Director of the Windrush National Organisation, believes that more support is needed to ensure that the people who are still negatively impacted are able to access impartial support, in order to be able to get their lives back on track. Since the houses of faith are at the centre African-Caribbean communities, they are able to provide effective assistance in terms of engagement and advocacy, with the overarching support of the Windrush National Organisation.
The Windrush Interfaith Conference presents an opportunity to hear from the Home Office directly. A Government Minister has been invited to address the event.
The conference is free to attend, but spaces are limited. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. A prayer room will be available. It is vital that those planning to attend inform the Windrush National Organisation by Friday 14 March at the latest, providing details of any special dietary requirements. Contact the Windrush National Organisation at 94 Warren Road, Birmingham B44 8QD, or by e-mailing windrushnationalorganisation@gmail.com.
