Being a Welcoming Church

‘Father Hudson’s Care’ is working with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham on a new project called ‘Being a Welcoming Church.’ It is a call for action with regard to four groups of people – older people, refugees, people living with disability and the homeless.

Each area of concern will be introduced at a one-hour workshop. Welcoming older people will be the focus of a one-hour, online workshop beginning at 7.30pm on Monday 20 March. A focus on refugees will take place at 7.30pm on Monday 17 April. Welcoming people living with disability will feature at the workshop at 7.30pm on Monday 22 May and welcoming the homeless at 7.30pm on Monday 19 June.

The workshops will envision parishes to live their faith and mission more deeply through charitable action by equipping them with new ideas and opportunities to serve those in need. Each workshop will involve a specially-commissioned film, personal testimonies, liturgy, presentations and practical examples. They will be followed by events to help parishes to develop local initiatives with the support, experience and expertise of the Archdiocese and Father Hudson’s Care.
