Bethel Health and Healing Network

‘Bethel Health and Healing Network’ is a registered charity established on Christian faith and principles to provide health and well-being services for disadvantaged people in Birmingham and the surrounding area. Bethel’s vision is to enable and empower people to become physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy.

Bethel’s culturally-sensitive ‘Rapha’ Listening Service supports adults aged 18+ who are struggling with their mental health, proving them with access to a confidential, non-judgmental listening service with the aim of helping them to reach a place of stable mental and emotional health. Rapha fully-trained listeners are available from 8.00am to 8.00pm seven days per week. Each session lasts up to 45 minutes.

Bethel’s Doula Service caters to the needs of highly vulnerable pregnant women and new mums, who are referred by the NHS and other statutory agencies, to provide practical and emotional ante-natal and post-natal support. Over the past year, the Bethel Health and Healing Network has supported more than 170 women. Many of the vulnerable pregnant women and new mums do not have basic items for themselves and/or their babies. Bethel, therefore, keeps a small stock of essential supplies such as nappies, baby clothes, toiletries, and toys. The network is frequently contacted by members of the public and local organisations who wish to donate larger items, such as pushchairs and sleeping equipment.

However, Bethel faces a constant struggle with storage space and is severely limited in what it is able to accept, even though such donations would make a huge difference to its service users. Bethel’s Doula Service would welcome the offer of a local organisation that can offer storage space, to enable it to receive more donations for the benefit of its service users. A small room or shared space with shelving would be ideal, but any suitable space would be considered. Please contact Margaret, the Doula Service Manager, at margaret@bethelnetwork.org.uk with offers of help.
