My Mental Health and Spirituality

WITH REV PROF JOHN SWINTON

Event Date: Thursday 29 September 2022
Event Time:7:30 PM
Venue:TBC
Bookings: My Mental Health and Spirituality – Science and Faith in the Second City
Are science and faith opposed to one another? Does science disprove the existence of God? Or, alternatively, are science and the Christian faith complementary partners, together helping us to understand the world and our place in it in the early 21st century? This series of talks will all be given by prominent scientists who are also Christians, explaining how their science and their Christian beliefs work together.

The current pandemic has left many alone with their own thoughts for too long. If you add to that difficult social circumstances and the competitive climate of our modern world, it’s not surprising that so many are struggling. Rev Prof John Swinton (University of Aberdeen) is a registered mental health nurse and professor of religious studies at the University of Aberdeen. In this talk he will discuss ways of developing modes of care that are genuinely person centred and which take seriously the significance of theology, spirituality and religion within the processes of healing and community building.
